Waypoint

Waypoint is the phone app that trade-show staff at Ron Blank & Associates use to manage and track what they need at a show: the day's plan, the team, travel, contacts, spending and paperwork, all in one place.

Try the app

Tap anything inside the phone. The bar at the bottom moves between Today, Contacts, Money and Show, and the round Capture button in the middle starts a business card scan or a receipt. Everything shown is made up and nothing is saved.

Connection

With no connection the app keeps working. Changes wait on the phone and go out by themselves when the connection returns.

What it does for trade-show staff

Before the show

Flights, hotel and rental car sit in one travel page, next to the floor plan, exhibitor manual and other documents and the list of booth kits being shipped.

On the floor

Today shows who is on site, the day's shifts and meetings, and the tasks that are due, with one tap to mark a task done.

Meeting people

Photograph a business card or type a person in. The contact opens at once, can be marked hot, warm or cold, and gets background notes on the person and the company.

Spending and shipping

Photograph a receipt to log an expense, record booth costs, and keep every shipment's tracking number ready to copy.

With no signal

Convention halls are poor places for a connection, so the app keeps working and sends what you did once the connection is back.

After the show

A daily summary shows who was met and what is still open, and a debrief list collects what to change next time.

Every person, company, show and number in this mock-up is invented. It runs on this page only and saves nothing.
